MovPrint's video frames and books now pin themselves

MovPrint
MovPrint has made more than 1,300 sales on Etsy since 2022 with personalized video frames and video books, each edited from the buyer's own photos and videos. Alura's Smart Pins keeps those listings on Pinterest, where people plan the moments these gifts mark, and the shop has used A/B tests to try price changes.
Frames that play the video, sound included
MovPrint makes digital photo and video frames and video books, all personalized and made to order. There are clear acrylic frames with an engraved label and a choice of gold, silver or black screws, round frames in black or white, rustic wooden frames, and video books with personalized lettering on the cover. Each has a small screen that plays the buyer's own photos and videos, and many play sound too: a first dance, a favorite song, a baby's heartbeat.
The editing is part of the order. After checkout, buyers get a secure link to upload their files. MovPrint edits them, sends a digital mock-up to review, and ships once the buyer approves. Edits are welcome at the mock-up stage. The shop holds a 4.99 star rating from more than 440 reviews.
Gifts that are planned long before they're bought
Almost everything MovPrint sells marks an occasion: a wedding, an engagement, a pregnancy announcement, an anniversary, a memorial, a family trip, Mother's Day. Those are moments people plan for, and a lot of that planning happens on Pinterest, on boards of gift ideas and keepsakes saved well ahead of time.
A video frame is also hard to explain in one still photo. It looks like a picture frame until you see it play. Pinterest gives a product like that more chances: each photo can become its own pin, with a line of description under it. But making pins by hand for every frame, book, color and occasion is a job of its own, and the shop already edits every order before it ships.
“People don't really get a video frame from one still photo. On Pinterest we can show it from a few angles, and that's where people save gift ideas anyway.”
Smart Pins keeps the queue full on its own
MovPrint connected its Pinterest account to Alura and switched on both automations. Smart Pins checks the queue once a day and fills it with pins made from the shop's active listings, about ten days ahead. It ranks listings mostly by Etsy listing views, so the frames shoppers already look at most come up most often. Pin New Listings picks up anything that went live in the past day, which is how new designs like the vertical video books for Mom and Dad got their first pins without anyone stopping to make them.
The shop made two choices in the settings. Smart Pins can draw on any photo in a listing, beyond the main image, and each photo keeps its original shape instead of being cropped. Add the rule that a photo pinned in the last week isn't reused, and the same frame comes up in different scenes: on a shelf, in someone's hands, opened to the screen. The pin text is optimized for Pinterest with AI, written from the listing itself.
“We have a lot of photos for each frame, so we wanted all of them used. Sometimes the shot of someone holding it says more than the product photo.”
Price changes get tested on the live listing
Pricing a personalized gift is its own puzzle, and MovPrint used Alura's A/B tests to try price changes before committing to them. One test tried a higher price on the rustic wooden frame. Others tried a lower price on the engraved acrylic frame and the cream video book.
An A/B test switches the live Etsy listing between the original version and the new one on a schedule, so every shopper sees one price at a time, and then compares sales or revenue. MovPrint let the tests end on their own. Each one ended on the original price, and Alura applied it to the listing.
Pins that explain what the frame does
Because the AI writes from the listing, the pins carry the details that make a video frame make sense to someone who has never seen one. One pin, "Personalized Video Frame for Pregnancy & Gender Reveal," describes a frame made with "ultrasound, heartbeat, or special songs." Another, "Personalized Wooden Digital Photo Frame with Audio & Editing," tells the reader to "choose color, style, and audio, then review your digital mock-up before delivery." A third is simply "Personalized Vertical Video Book for Couples with Audio."
Every pin links back to its Etsy listing. The mock-up step, the audio and the editing all made it into the pin text, the parts of the order a buyer would want to know before they click.
Advice for other sellers
If your product does something a photo can't show on its own, give it more than one chance to explain itself. Use every angle you have: on a shelf, in someone's hands, opened up. Different photos catch different people.
And change one thing at a time. If you're thinking about a new price, test the price alone, so you know what the answer is about.
“Test the price before you commit to it. It's easy to talk yourself into a number, and it helps to have something other than a gut feeling.”
