My shop is small. Is an A/B test worth it?

It works best on a listing that already sells. A few orders either way can be chance, so a listing that sells a handful a week needs weeks, not days. Start with your best seller and one change that matters, like the first photo or the start of the title.

Do I have to swap the versions by hand?

No. Alura edits your live Etsy listing for you, switching between A and B every 8 hours, or once a day at midnight UTC if you also want views tracked. Every switch shows up in the test's activity.

How is the winner picked?

By orders, or by revenue if you choose that when you set up the test. Views and conversion rate for each version only show on tests that switch once a day, because Etsy updates views once a day.

A listing's title, description, price, tags, photos or video. You can change several in one test, but one change at a time tells you what made the difference. Variant A is your listing as it is now, and you write variant B. Each listing can run one test at a time.

What happens when a test ends?

With Automatic, the test runs for at least a week, longer on a listing that sells slowly, then the version with more orders (or revenue) goes on your listing. If both versions did equally well, your listing goes back to version A, as it was before the test. With Manual, you decide when to stop and which version to keep.

Which plans include A/B tests?

Growth runs up to 4 tests at a time and Professional up to 20.

Etsy A/B testing

Let your shoppers pick the winner

Set up a test once. Alura runs it on your real listing, day and night, and keeps count.

Pick one thing to test

The title, photos, price, tags, description or video. Change one at a time and you'll know what made the difference.

Your listing against a new version

Version A is your listing as it is. You write version B with the one change to try, checked against Etsy's limits.

Alura swaps them on a timer

Your live listing switches between A and B every 8 hours, with no editing by hand.

Keep the version that sells more

Orders and revenue are counted for each version, and the winner stays on your listing.

A closer look

You set the rules, Alura keeps score

Decide how a test is judged and how it ends. Every switch and every sale is on record, so you can see how the winner won.

Testing a price? Judge on revenue, so a cheaper version that sells more but earns less doesn't win.

Automatic ends the test on its own, after a week or more depending on how much the listing sells, and puts the version that did better on your listing.

The test's activity logs each switch and the sales each version made while it was live.

Very intuitive program! Within 3 days of making changes on one particular listing, I sold a print when it had been listed for 4 months with only 2 views.
