Etsy changes the regulatory operating fee in 7 countries, with France rising to 1.14%
Sellers based in France, Hungary, India, Italy, Spain, Türkiye and the UK pay new rates from June 22, 2026, and Canada's rate has fallen to 0.50% with no start date from Etsy.
What changed
On April 22, 2026, Etsy announced new regulatory operating fee rates "Starting on June 22, 2026":
| Seller country | Before | From June 22, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| France | 0.47% | 1.14% |
| Hungary | none | 1.97% |
| India | 0.29% | 0.05% |
| Italy | 0.32% | 0.80% |
| Spain | 0.72% | 0.88% |
| Türkiye | 2.27% | 1.67% |
| United Kingdom | 0.32% | 0.48% |
Canada changed too. The April 22 post does not mention Canada, and we found no Etsy announcement of the change. The Help Center fee table listed Canada at 1.15% in November 2025. After an edit on June 22, 2026, it lists 0.50%. Etsy has not said when the Canadian rate took effect.
Vietnam stays at 1.24%.
Who it affects
The fee depends on where you are based as a seller. Etsy says it "will vary based on seller location." Sellers in countries not on the list pay no regulatory operating fee.
What it costs
The fee is charged on the item price plus shipping, "including gift wrap and personalization costs, if applicable." It excludes tax collected by Etsy. VAT applies to the fee where applicable.
Example: a seller in France sells a €40 item with €6 shipping. The fee base is €46.
- Before June 22: €46 × 0.47% = €0.2162, about €0.22.
- From June 22: €46 × 1.14% = €0.5244, about €0.52.
That is €0.3082, about €0.31, more per order of that size.
For a Canadian seller on a C$46 order, the fee goes from about C$0.53 (1.15%) to C$0.23 (0.50%).
What to do
- Check the regulatory operating fee lines in your Payment account, where Etsy shows them with your other seller fees.
- If you sell from France, Hungary or Italy, the change is large enough to recheck your margins: the rate more than doubles in France and Italy, and Hungary has a new fee.
- If you track fees in a spreadsheet, update the rate for your country.
What we don't know
Etsy gave no start date for Canada. Its Help Center showed 1.15% on November 26, 2025, and 0.50% after its June 22, 2026 edit. Nothing Etsy has published dates the change more closely. Etsy's general fees article, edited October 7, 2026, still lists the fee countries without Hungary. The dedicated fee page and the April announcement both include Hungary at 1.97%.
