What is an Etsy coupon code generator?
An Etsy coupon code generator helps sellers name the promo codes they offer buyers. Pick a theme and a discount, and it gives you a batch of short, easy-to-type codes like SPRING15 or THANKYOU10 that follow the code rules.
This tool is for shop owners creating discounts. If you are shopping on Etsy and looking for a code to use, check the shop's announcement or ask the seller in Messages.
Etsy coupon code rules
Every code from the generator follows these rules, so you won't have to retype one in Shop Manager:

Etsy now calls coupon codes promo codes. Each one gives a percent off, a fixed amount off, or free standard shipping. The percent range comes from Etsy's Help Center. Etsy doesn't publish the character rules there, so the generator sticks to the stricter version seller guides agree on.
How to create a coupon code on Etsy
- On Etsy.com, go to Shop Manager.
- In the Marketing tab, select Sales and Discounts.
- Choose Create a promo code.
- Pick the discount type and amount, then enter the code you copied from the generator.
- Choose which listings it applies to, or add all active listings.
- Review the details and confirm.
You can also cap how many times a code can be used, or limit it to one use per buyer. Etsy notes that the overall cap can't be changed after you create the code, but you can deactivate the code at any time.
Coupon code ideas that buyers remember
The best codes say what they are. A buyer who sees SPRING15 knows the season and the deal before they read the rest of your post.

- Keep it short. Under 12 characters is easy to type on a phone.
- Put the amount in the code so buyers know what they get. Skip it for free shipping.
- Avoid look-alikes such as O and 0 or I and 1 when the code will be read aloud or printed small.
- Use one code per channel, for example one for Instagram and one for packing slips, so Etsy's offer stats show which one worked.
How much does a discount cost you?
Etsy's transaction and payment processing fees are charged on what the buyer actually pays, so a discount lowers your fees a little too. A $40.00 item at 25% off sells for $30.00. A US seller pays $3.30 in Etsy fees and keeps $26.70, compared with $35.75 at full price.

Where to share your code
Etsy suggests sharing promo codes in Messages, in your shop announcement, on social media, or anywhere else you talk to buyers. A few places that work well:
- a thank-you card or packing slip in each order;
- your shop announcement during a seasonal sale;
- Instagram, Pinterest or TikTok posts and your email list;
- a reply to a buyer who favorited an item or asked a question.
