How SignatureStitchStu gives every collection its own Pinterest board

SignatureStitchStu makes personalized clothing and accessories, each piece made to order on an industrial embroidery machine. Its most loved item is the anniversary hoodie: the wedding date stitched across the chest in Roman numerals, with initials and a heart on the sleeve, made for couples to wear as a matching pair.

Around it sit mama and grandma sweatshirts with the kids' names running down one sleeve, bride and bridesmaid crewnecks, dad hats, nurse sweatshirts with a name and credentials, and canvas trick-or-treat bags lined with fall print cotton. The shop has close to 10,000 reviews and a 4.92 star rating. Processing time is set at one to three days, but most orders ship the next business day, and buyers are welcome to message about custom requests.

Almost everything in the shop is a gift, and every gift has a date attached. Anniversary hoodies go out for Valentine's Day and wedding anniversaries. Mama sweatshirts are bought for Mother's Day, birthdays and baby announcements. Dad sweatshirts come up before Father's Day, nurse sweatshirts at graduation, and the trick-or-treat bags have a few weeks in the fall.

Gift shoppers browse Pinterest for ideas well before the date. Meeting them there means pinning across every collection, keeping the pins sorted so a grandma gift doesn't get lost between Halloween bags, and adding each new design as it goes up. For a shop that spends its days embroidering and shipping, that is a second job.

SignatureStitchStu connected its Pinterest account to Alura and turned on both automations, Smart Pins and Pin New Listings. Smart Pins runs once a day and fills a queue with pins made from the shop's active listings, about ten days ahead. It picks listings mostly by how many Etsy views they get and moves through each listing's photos, so the same image isn't pinned again within a week. Pin New Listings checks daily for listings that went live in the past day and adds them too.

For boards, the shop uses Smart Board. Instead of sending every pin to one board, Smart Board maps each Etsy shop section to its own Pinterest board. The shop's boards follow the way the shop is already organized: Anniversary Collection, Mama Collection, Bride/Wife Collection, Dad Collection, Fall and Halloween, Medical Professional. A new grandma sweatshirt goes to the Mama Collection board, and a nurse sweatshirt goes to Medical Professional, instead of everything landing in one pile.

Pin text is set to Optimized for Pinterest with AI, which writes a title, description and alt text for each pin from the listing. Pins sit in the Pin Queue until their posting slot. The shop can edit, reorder or delete any of them there, and the rest go out on their own. Alongside the automated pins, the shop still makes some of its own in the Create tab.

The shop also worked through some of its older listings in Alura's listing editor. Those titles had been written as a run of search phrases, the way many Etsy sellers were taught to write them: Dad Gifts, Dad Shirt, Fathers Day Gifts from Kids, Dads Birthday, Gift for New Dad, all in one line.

The shop ran Alura's AI optimization on the title and description, checked the result in the editor and published it. The new descriptions name the hoodie and its personalization in the first sentence, then list the details as short bullet points, like the midweight 80% ringspun cotton and 20% polyester blend. Nothing changes on Etsy until the seller clicks Publish changes.

The rewritten titles are live on Etsy. Each one now leads with the product and the personalization, in the words someone buying a gift would use.

On Pinterest, the queue keeps drawing from across the catalog, and each pin lands on the board for its section with a title written for Pinterest rather than for Etsy search. An anniversary hoodie goes to Anniversary Collection, a grandma crewneck to Mama Collection, a nurse sweatshirt to Medical Professional. Nobody at the shop has to remember which collection is due for a post.

Set up your shop sections around who the gift is for and when it gets given. A buyer shopping for her mom wants the mom options in one place, and a buyer in October wants the Halloween pieces together. The same order carries over anywhere your sections show up, from your Etsy shop page to your Pinterest boards.

And say the personalization in the title. "With names on sleeve" tells a buyer exactly what they're getting before they open the listing.
