How Moonshine & Glitter keeps its seasonal signs on Pinterest

MOONSHINEandGLITTER
Moonshine & Glitter has made more than 13,000 sales on Etsy since 2018 with UV-printed wood signs, coastal decor and keepsakes made in coastal North Carolina. With new designs arriving every season, the shop has Alura pin each new listing and keep the rest of the catalog, coastal pieces included, in rotation on Pinterest.
Designed, printed and cut in one small shop
Moonshine & Glitter is a small, woman-owned business in coastal North Carolina. Every piece is designed, printed, laser cut and finished in the shop: UV-printed wood signs, ornaments, memorial keepsakes, wedding signs, earrings and home decor. The beach shows up everywhere. There are shadow boxes for shells and shark teeth, a sand dollar cut from white oak, a layered wooden sea turtle, and ornaments personalized with a beach town and the year of the trip.
The format that shows up most is the mini sign: a 4x4 wood sign on its own little easel, made for a shelf or a tiered tray. Sea turtles in the surf, a pumpkin truck outside a barn, a snowy tree in the woods. The shop also sells its designs as laser and UV print files for other makers, and it takes custom orders by message.
A catalog that changes with the calendar
A seasonal sign shop is always launching something. Fall signs give way to Halloween, Halloween gives way to Christmas, and each season brings a new run of mini signs, ornaments and files. Every one of those is a new thing to show on Pinterest, where people go looking for ideas for their mantel or their cocoa bar.
Pinning by hand means getting the image into Pinterest's tall shape, writing a title and a description, choosing a board, and then doing it again for the next listing. Meanwhile the shop's coastal pieces, the shadow boxes and sea turtles that aren't tied to any season, still need pins of their own. And all of it competes for time with designing, printing, cutting and finishing the orders.
“Every season I list a whole new run of signs. If each one waited for me to write its own pin, the Christmas signs would reach Pinterest after Christmas.”
One automation for new signs, one for everything else
Moonshine & Glitter connected its Pinterest account to Alura and turned on both automations. Pin New Listings runs once a day and picks up listings that went live in the past day. When a new Christmas sign goes up on Etsy, its pin is made for it, without anyone opening Pinterest.
Smart Pins covers the rest of the shop. Once a day it fills the queue with pins made from active listings, about 10 days ahead, ranked mostly by how many Etsy views each listing gets. A photo pinned in the last 7 days is never reused, so the shell shadow boxes and sea turtle art come back around without the same photo going out again within a week.
The pin text is set to "Optimized for Pinterest with AI". Alura writes a title, a description and alt text for each pin from the listing, shorter and closer to a caption than an Etsy title. Images go out in Pinterest's tall 2:3 shape. The Pin Queue settings decide how many pins post per day and at what times, and anything in the queue can be edited, moved up or deleted before it posts. Some pieces still get pinned by hand from the Create tab.
“On Pinterest people want the cozy picture and a few words, not my whole Etsy title. So I let it write the pin and I keep my time for the next design.”
Christmas signs pinned while they're still new
The new Christmas signs show how it works. The candy cane sign went up on Etsy as "Candy Cane Christmas Wood Sign, 4x4 Holiday Shelf Sitter with Easel, Christmas Kitchen Decor, Tiered Tray Candy Cane Sign". Its pin reads "Candy Cane Christmas Wood Sign for Festive Decor" and suggests it for tiered trays, shelves or a holiday gift. The cocoa cottage snowman became "Rustic Snowman Christmas Sign for Cocoa Bar Decor". A North Pole workshop scene became "Rustic North Pole Christmas Wood Sign for Holiday Decor".
The Etsy titles are written for Etsy search, with the size, the easel and every place the sign could go. The pins keep the product and the mood and leave the rest to the photo.
The coastal pieces keep their place too. The shell shadow box is on Pinterest as "Coastal Sea Shell Shadow Box Decor for Beach Treasures", described as birch wood and acrylic for collectors and ocean lovers. The sea turtle mini sign is "Coastal Sea Turtle Decor Mini Wood Sign with Easel". Each pin links back to the listing on Etsy.
Pick one size and build a line around it
The shop's advice for other makers is about the product, not the marketing. Choose a format and keep it. Many of the shop's signs share the same 4x4 square and the same small easel, whether the design is a fall barn, a sea turtle or a candy cane. The format stays put and the design changes with the season, so each new sign looks like it belongs next to the last one.
“Pick one size and stick with it. A lot of my signs are 4x4 on the same little easel, so someone can swap fall for Christmas without changing her whole shelf.”
