MirrorsCo's rustic mirrors and coat racks now pin themselves

MirrorsCo
MirrorsCo has made more than 1,500 sales of handmade wooden mirrors and coat racks on Etsy since 2024, with a 4.93 rating from 280 reviews. With the same frame offered in five wax finishes, it uses Alura's Smart Pins and Pin New Listings to keep the whole range on Pinterest without pinning each piece by hand.
One rustic frame, five waxes
MirrorsCo makes the kind of furniture that goes by the front door or over the bathroom sink: chunky wooden mirrors, mirrors with a shelf along the bottom for a plant or a candle, and coat racks with ten black hooks and a shelf on top. Each piece is made to order from solid rustic timber and finished by hand in the UK, so the grain and knots differ from one to the next.
The finish is where buyers get to choose. Pieces come in a choice of English Oak, Dark Oak, Walnut, Jacobean or Georgian Mahogany wax, and many of the mirrors come in several sizes. The coat rack is a good example: one design, offered in two sizes, with its own listing for each wax. The shop also makes picket fence garden borders, a redwood bathroom shelf and a small framed planter.
A catalogue of near twins
Rustic mirrors and coat racks are the sort of thing people plan on Pinterest. Someone redoing a hallway saves a coat rack next to a bench and a basket of shoes, then comes back to it months later. The shop's photos already look like that: every piece is shown hanging in a room, with coats on the hooks and trailing plants on the shelf.
The difficulty is the catalogue. Most of the listings are close variations on a few designs, told apart by wax colour, size or room. Pinning them well by hand means choosing which one goes out today, writing a fresh title and description for it, picking the right board, and doing it again tomorrow without posting the same Walnut rack twice. That is a lot of writing about a lot of very similar pieces, for a shop whose real work is making them.
“After a day of making racks, writing a fresh description for the Walnut one and then the Dark Oak one is the last thing I want to do.”
Pins built from the listings, sorted by shop section
MirrorsCo connected its Pinterest account to Alura and turned on both automations. Smart Pins fills a queue about ten days ahead with pins made from the shop's active listings. It chooses listings mostly by how many Etsy views they get, so the mirrors people are already looking at come up most. It never reuses a photo pinned in the past week.
Pin New Listings covers the other side. A daily job picks up anything that went live in the past day, so when a new finish of the coat rack or a new garden border goes up on Etsy, a pin for it follows without a separate step.
The shop chose "Optimized for Pinterest with AI" for the pin text. Instead of copying the Etsy title, AI writes a Pinterest title, description and alt text from each listing, and because the listings explain the wax finishes and the shelf, the pins do too. Boards are handled with Smart Board, which maps each Etsy shop section to a Pinterest board. Mirrors land on a board called "Affordable Bathroom Décor", coat racks on "Rustic Coat Rack with a shelf" or "Ideas for the house", and anything outside a mapped section goes to the fallback board, "Farmhouse Home Decor".
Pins post on the days and time slots set in the Pin Queue settings. Anything that needs changing can be edited, reordered or deleted in the Queue before it goes out; otherwise it posts on schedule.
“I'd rather the pins follow what people are already looking at on Etsy than have me guess which finish is popular this month.”
The whole range, out on Pinterest
The pins going out cover the range, mirrors and coat racks alike, and each describes the piece in Pinterest terms. A coat rack pin reads "Rustic Handmade Coat Rack Shelf with 10 Hooks for Farmhouse Style", with the description "Add farmhouse charm with this handmade rustic coat rack and shelf, crafted from solid wood with a wax finish. Available in 5 or 10 hooks, perfect for hallways and mudrooms."
A hallway mirror goes out as "Rustic Wooden Hallway Mirror with Shelf, Handmade in UK", described as "Add rustic charm to your home with this handmade wooden mirror featuring a shelf. Crafted from solid rustic timber with a choice of wax finishes, perfect for any space." Each pin links back to its Etsy listing, where the buyer can see the sizes and finishes.
The new pieces follow the same path. When the shop adds a listing, the next daily Pin New Listings run picks it up and Smart Board files it with the rest of its section.
Put the finish in the title
Many MirrorsCo titles say which wax is in the photo: "Dark Oak Waxed Coat Rack with 10 Hooks", "Walnut Waxed Coat Rack Shelf", "English Oak Waxed Rustic Bathroom Mirror". The coat racks go a step further, with a separate listing for each wax and a photo to match. A buyer who has already settled on a dark finish for the hallway can find that exact version and see it on the wall, without opening a listing to read through the options.
“People don't really search for a coat rack. They search for a dark oak coat rack, because they already know what their hallway looks like.”
