GingerbloomGifts has made more than 4,000 sales on Etsy since 2019 with garden flags, personalized gifts and clip art, from a catalog of more than 900 listings. Allison has Alura turn those listings into pins and file each one on the Pinterest board that matches its shop section.

A porch flag, a Santa plate and a capybara in glasses

Allison is an artist from South Carolina, and GingerbloomGifts sells her work in two forms. Some of it ships: double-sided garden flags with a family's last name or a monogram framed by pheasants, Cookies for Santa plates made with the family name, couples' platters with names, a wedding date and the pets, engraved maple cutting boards for grandmothers, and Comfort Colors tees.

The rest is digital. There are watercolor PNGs for sublimation, like seahorses and sea turtles wrapped in tropical hibiscus or a capybara teacher with a coffee in hand, plus editable Canva birthday banners and printables for teachers and parents. Personalized orders usually leave within two to four days, the shop has 661 reviews averaging 4.84 stars, and new designs keep arriving.

Teachers and gardeners don't save the same pins

A shop this wide sells to people who have very little in common. A teacher hunting for a back-to-school PNG, someone dressing up a front porch for fall and a family planning Christmas Eve all shop at GingerbloomGifts, and on Pinterest each of them saves to a different kind of board.

Allison's Pinterest account is set up that way, with boards like Garden Ideas, Southern Home Ideas, Christmas Decor Ideas and Clip Art. Keeping those boards full by hand would mean picking a photo, copying the text and choosing the right board for every listing, across a catalog of more than 900, and doing it again each time a new design goes up.

“Somebody saving porch ideas doesn't want a teacher PNG in the middle of them. A board only works if it stays about one thing.”

The shop sections choose the board

Allison connected Pinterest to Alura and switched on Smart Pins. Once a day it fills the Pin Queue, about ten days ahead, with pins made from her active listings. It ranks them mostly by Etsy listing views, so the designs shoppers are already looking at come up most often, and a photo pinned in the last week isn't used again.

The sorting is done by Smart Board. In the Pinterest settings, instead of choosing one board for every pin, she chose Smart Board, matched each Etsy shop section to one of her boards, and picked a fallback board for anything that doesn't fit. GingerbloomGifts already groups its listings into sections for Etsy shoppers, so the same groups now decide where each pin lands. Custom garden flags go to Garden Ideas, Christmas gifts and decor to Christmas Decor Ideas, digital downloads to Clip Art, throw pillows and home decor to Southern Home Ideas. Anything outside those sections lands on Customized, Personalized Gifts & Decor, so no listing is left without a home. Allison can still open the queue to edit a pin, move it up or publish it right away.

“I'd already sorted the shop into sections for Etsy. Letting those same sections pick the board meant I didn't have to sort everything twice.”

The Etsy title is also the pin title

The pins use the shop's Etsy text as written, so whatever title a listing carries on Etsy is the title it carries on Pinterest. Pin titles are capped at 100 characters, so a longer Etsy title gets shortened on the pin and ends in three dots.

Allison has also been tidying titles in Alura's listing editor. Most of the new titles started as suggestions from the AI optimizer, and a few she rewrote herself. On some listings the same pass reached the tags and description too. A duck sweatshirt's description now opens with what's printed on it, a flying mallard and the words "WING IT", before it gets to sizes and colors. Nothing changes on Etsy until she reviews the edit and clicks Publish changes.

Shorter titles, sorted boards

On Pinterest, the boards now read like the shop's own departments. Garden Ideas carries pins like "Pineapple Garden Flag: Double Sided Summer Outdoor Decor". Christmas Decor Ideas has the "Watercolor Nutcracker Table Runner, Vintage Sugarplum Fairy Christmas Decor". The teacher designs, worksheets and party templates sit together on Clip Art, away from the porch flags and cutting boards.

On Etsy, the edited titles lead with the product. The earlier versions were written to catch several searches at once and ran past the pin's limit; each new one fits on a pin in full.

Name boards for the person saving them

Allison's shop sections are named for what she sells: custom garden flags, Christmas gifts and decor, art digital downloads. Her Pinterest boards are named for what someone is looking for: Garden Ideas, Southern Home Ideas, Birthday Gift Ideas. Both fit where they live. On Etsy a shopper has already decided on a flag. On Pinterest they're still collecting ideas for the porch. If you sell a wide range, keep the sections plain and practical, name each board for the search, and connect each section to the board it belongs on.

“Nobody goes to Pinterest looking for a custom garden flag. They're looking for porch ideas. The board has to be named for that.”
