How GhebDezignsShop put the gold foil and gatefold in its card titles

GhebDezignsShop
GhebDezignsShop has made nearly 1,500 sales on Etsy since 2020 with handmade greeting cards and printable coloring books, and holds a 4.99 star rating from 670 reviews. Its card titles were written to set a mood, so the shop used Alura's listing optimizer to rewrite them around how each card is made.
Greeting cards built in layers
A GhebDezignsShop card is built up in layers. A die-cut gold woodland with deer sits on a green embossed background. Blue dahlias are colored by hand and framed in gold filigree. Paper flowers are hand stitched with embroidery thread onto a pink to purple ombre panel. Some cards have a shaker window full of loose sequins, others a gatefold front that opens onto a scene inside.
There's a card for most occasions: birthdays, weddings, new babies, sympathy, Christmas, Halloween and Diwali. Each listing ends with a short spec list covering the size, the card stock, the fold, and the sentiment on the cover and inside. The shop also sells printable coloring books for adults, from cottages and stained glass to steampunk faeries and haunted houses.
Titles that set a mood, specs that sat further down
Many of the older titles were written to describe how a card feels. A silver rose wedding card was an "Elegant and Sparkling Design". A Christmas card was "Festive" and for "Seasonal Blessings". A mandala birthday card was "A Peaceful Expression of Joy and Reflection". All true, and all words that could sit on almost any card in the shop.
The details that make each card different were in the listing, just lower down: the gold foil, the embossed paper, the gatefold, the hand colored flowers, the size. A shopper scrolling Etsy search sees the title and the photo. If they're looking for an embossed Christmas card or a gatefold wedding card, the title was the place to tell them.
“Elegant fits every card in the shop, so it doesn't help anyone choose. The gatefold, the foil, the hand colored flowers, that's what sets one card apart.”
The spec list becomes the title
The shop works through its cards one listing at a time in Alura's listing editor. In Optimization settings it ticks the title, the description, the tags and the alt text, then clicks Start optimization. The AI reads the whole listing, spec list included, and writes a new version of each part, which shows up in the editor next to the live text.
That spec list does a lot of the work. Because each listing already says what the card stock is, how big the card is, how it opens and how it's decorated, the AI has real facts to build a title from. The new title leads with the kind of card, a wedding card or a sympathy card or a Christmas card, and follows with the materials and techniques that set this one apart.
The other parts follow the same idea. The description now opens with a short paragraph about what's on the card, its size and its sentiment, and the shop's own spec list stays underneath. The tags name the craft as well as the occasion: gatefold card, embossed paper card, gold foil christmas, rhinestone card. The photos get alt text, the short description that screen readers read aloud.
None of it reaches Etsy straight away. The rewrite waits in the editor, View changes shows what is different from the live listing, and Revert all throws it out. Only Publish changes sends it to Etsy, and the Listing history dialog keeps the earlier version if it ever needs restoring.
“I still write the spec list myself. It's the part I trust. The title just needs to pull the best bits of it to the front.”
Titles that say what's on the card
Each new title starts with what the card is for, then says what's on it and what it's made of. A few, before and after:
The wedding card is a good example. Its old title called it elegant and sparkling. The new one names the occasion first, then the silver glitter roses, the gatefold opening and the white card stock. Open the gate and there's the married couple and "And they lived Happily Ever After".
The sympathy card shows the change in its tags. Alongside the passion flower, they now include condolence card, bereavement card and remembrance card, the different words people use when they're looking for a card for someone who is grieving. The description opens with the hand colored passion flowers, the jewel accents, the cream card stock and the 5 by 7 inch size, and the original spec list follows with the sentiment inside: "My Heart is with you in your time of sorrow with Love and Remembrance."

Advice for other sellers
Write a spec list for every product, even when it feels repetitive. Size, material, how it opens, what it says inside. It answers the questions buyers would otherwise message you about, and it gives you the facts to build a good title from.
Then name the technique. If a card is embossed, foiled, hand stitched or gatefold, say so in the title, not only in the photo.
“People who love handmade cards know what embossing and a gatefold are. Some of them are looking for exactly that, so I say it in plain words.”
