DrMaker3D prints pendant lights to order in a small Connecticut studio, and its Etsy shop holds a 4.92-star average across 217 reviews. The shop reworked its titles, partly in Alura's listing editor, to lead with the kind of light and the wiring, and lets Alura keep those lights in front of people on Pinterest.

Every light is printed to order in Connecticut

DrMaker3D makes pendant lights. Each shade is printed to order in a small Connecticut studio and ships free with a cord kit included, plug-in or hardwired. There are 25 matte colors and a choice of sizes, and several designs also come as matching sets of three, made to hang in a row over a kitchen island.

Most designs are named after a town or neighborhood in Italy or France. TORTONA is a drum wrapped in geometric mesh. RAVELLO stacks three rounded tiers into one dome. CREMONA is ribbed, MARAIS is ruffled, BASTILLE is cut into flat facets. Between the lights, the printers turn out a few side projects too, like pickleball beads and rock climbing hold fridge magnets. The Burlington, Connecticut studio also prints and designs custom orders, from replacement parts made from a photo or sketch to figures and cookie cutters, at drmaker3d.com.

A pendant light is bought for a specific room

Nobody buys a pendant light on a whim. The buyer has a kitchen island or a dining table in mind, a ceiling height, and usually a question about wiring. Room planning like that often starts on Pinterest, with boards of saved kitchens and dining rooms.

The shop's early titles were written from the maker's side of the workbench. They opened with how the shade was made and ended with a first name for each design: "3D Printed Drum Pendant Light, Mid-Century Mesh, 30+ Colors, 5 Sizes | LOLA". Every word of it was true. It simply led with how the shade was made, and left out how the light hangs. And keeping dozens of lights visible on Pinterest is a second job on top of the printing.

“Nobody searches for '3D printed.' They search for a light to hang over their kitchen island, and they want to know if they'll need an electrician. So that goes first in the title, and the design name goes last.”

Titles that answer the first question

DrMaker3D reworked its titles over several rounds, part of that work in Alura's listing editor, and settled on a pattern nearly every light in the catalog now follows. The product type comes first, in the words a shopper would use: Drum Pendant Light, Ruffled Pendant Light, Teardrop Pendant Light. Next comes the shape and style, then the color count, then "Plug-In or Hardwired". The design name moves to the very end, after a bar.

"3D printed" didn't disappear. It moved into the tags, where phrases like "3d printed light" and "3d printed shade" sit next to "kitchen island light" and "plug in pendant". In the editor, the shop typed its titles itself and used Alura's AI for drafts of tags and description text. Nothing goes live on Etsy until the shop clicks Publish changes, and the listing history keeps earlier versions, so a rewrite can be tried, compared and rolled back if it reads wrong.

The catalog keeps itself on Pinterest

With Pinterest connected, the shop turned on both automations. Smart Pins fills a queue about ten days ahead with pins made from active listings, ranked mostly by how many Etsy views each listing gets, so the lights shoppers already look at on Etsy come up most often. A photo pinned in the past week isn't reused. Pin New Listings picks up a new design within a day of it going live.

Pin titles and descriptions are set to "Optimized for Pinterest with AI", which writes them from the listing itself. The light pins go to the shop's Pendant Lighting Ideas board. Because the pins draw on the listing text, the clearer titles carry straight through to Pinterest. The shop's part is keeping the listings accurate and the photos good. The queue can still be opened at any time to reorder a pin, edit its text or delete it before it posts.

“I'd rather be at the printer than writing pin captions. If the listing is right, the pin is right, so the listing is where I spend my time.”

Drum light first, design name last

Here is how two listings changed. Both versions were live on Etsy, and the design names changed along the way. The new titles lead with the product type, name the shape, and answer the wiring question before anyone has to send a message.

On Pinterest, the TORTONA now runs as "Mid-Century Geometric Drum Pendant Light in 25 Colors", with a description that mentions the geometric mesh shade, the matte finishes and the included cords. The ribbed CREMONA, the tiered RAVELLO and the cloud-shaped ALTARE get the same treatment, each pinned from its own listing photo. The sets of three show up too, photographed as three shades hanging in a row over a kitchen island, the kind of scene someone planning a kitchen saves.

Answer the install question before it's asked

Put the question every buyer asks into the title, whether that's size, wiring or what's in the box. A shopper comparing lights will skip the listing that makes them guess. Then keep the door open for the rest. DrMaker3D asks anyone unsure which size fits their island to send a message before they buy. The sets of three follow the same thinking: most kitchen islands take three pendants, so the set is printed in one batch, in one color, and shipped in one box.

“A pendant hangs over the table you eat at every day, so people want to get it right. Tell them the size, the cord and the color up front. When someone sends me their measurements, I answer the same day. Customer service and follow-up is key to our success - and Alura helps us everyday.”
