dabasminimalist has made more than 66,000 sales on Etsy since 2020 with personalized minimalist jewelry, led by its birth flower necklaces. On Pinterest, the shop uses Alura to turn its best-loved pieces into a series of pins, one for each photo, with shorter titles written for Pinterest.

A birth flower for every month, and a name on the back

Dabas Minimalist is a California-based jewelry shop built around personal pieces: birth flower necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets, birthstone charms, initial necklaces and family pieces with several flowers on one chain. They come in sterling silver, 14k gold, rose gold, white gold and brass, and they're made to order. Buyers can ask for a free mockup and preview of a personalized piece, and every order ships with a free adjustable extender.

The best known is the tiny birth flower necklace, a small gold pendant engraved with the flower for a birth month, which more than 39,000 Etsy shoppers have saved to their favorites. Every order is made by the team, checked in a five-stage quality control and packed in a gift box with a free gift note. The shop has more than 11,000 reviews.

More good photos than one pin can show

Delicate jewelry is hard to judge from a single picture. Each listing carries several photos: an engraved pendant held between two fingers so you can read it, the same necklace worn on a model, a bracelet on a wrist, and color dots for the gold, rose gold and silver finishes.

On Pinterest, where people save gift ideas, each of those photos speaks to someone different. A close-up of the engraving catches the person who already knows the birth month. A photo on a model catches the person picturing it on their sister or their mom. Making each of those pins by hand, with a title, a description and the right board, takes time a made-to-order shop also needs for engraving and packing.

“Our photos do the selling. A close-up of the engraving and a shot of it on someone are two different reasons to buy. One pin can't show both.”

Pin Listings, one photo at a time

The shop connected its Pinterest account to Alura and does most of its pinning from the Create tab. Pin Listings lets the shop select one or several listings, then set preferences for the whole batch. The one that matters here is Image selection. The numbers match the photo positions in the Etsy listing, and picking several of them makes a separate pin from each photo.

So instead of one pin per necklace, the shop picks the pieces people already love, the birth flower necklace, the birth flower earrings and ring, the North Star necklace, the pearl bracelet with a gold heart, and makes a pin from each of their photos. The pins use the tall 2:3 Pinterest format and go into the Pin Queue.

The queue then spreads them out on the schedule the shop set: pins per day, posting days, time slots and a timezone. Any pin can be edited, reordered or published right away. Smart Pins and Pin New Listings are switched on as well, with Exclusions set so the automations skip the listings and shop sections the shop chose to leave out.

“The birth flower necklace is the piece people keep coming back to, so we pin it from every angle we've shot. Every photo of it is another way in.”

Titles for Pinterest, not copied from Etsy

Pin Listings can write each pin's title, description and alt text with AI, or use the Etsy text exactly as written, and every pin can be checked and edited in a preview before it joins the queue. These pins don't reuse the Etsy titles. On Etsy, the shop's most-favorited piece is listed as "Tiny Birth Flower Necklace, Wildflower Memorial Jewelry, Gold Filled Personalized Birth Month Gift for Her." Its pins are shorter: "Tiny Birth Flower Necklace - Personalized Memorial Jewelry" on one, "Delicate Birth Flower Necklace for Personal Keepsakes" on another. Each pin also gets its own short description, most of them ending with "See details on Etsy."

The shop's Pinterest boards are named the way a gift shopper thinks, with names like Birth Flower Necklace Gift Ideas and Birthstone Jewelry Gift Guide. The pin titles follow the same idea: the piece first, then what makes it personal.

The shop's favorites now come in sets of pins

Open the shop's pins and the same pieces come back in different photos. The North Star necklace appears as "Dainty Gold Polaris Necklace with North Star Pendant," described as a pendant "on a modern paperclip chain, symbolizing guidance and hope." The birth flower earrings appear as "Tiny Birth Flower Earrings - Personalized Gold Dangle Jewelry," the pearl bracelet as "Elegant Freshwater Pearl Bracelet with Gold Heart." Every pin links back to its Etsy listing, so a shopper who scrolls past one photo of the birth flower earrings can meet the same pair again later, in a different photo, one click from the order page.

Nobody has to remember to post. Once a batch is set up, the queue works through it on schedule, and the shop's time goes back to engraving and packing orders.

Shoot every piece more than one way

The shop's advice for other jewelry sellers starts before any marketing. Photograph each piece several ways: close enough to read the engraving, worn, and in each finish you sell. Small jewelry needs the close-up and the worn shot side by side, and a set of photos like that is useful on Etsy, on Pinterest and anywhere else the piece gets shared.

“Shoot it close, shoot it worn, shoot it in every finish. Each photo answers a different question someone has before they buy.”
