How PerriAnnsArtsNThings got started
Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?
PerriAnnsArtsNThings was created on a whim. I had recently moved and was in the middle of a career change - I just wasn’t sure yet what that career was going to be.
I honestly did not expect my shop to take off. There are so many Etsy shops and the competition is fierce. I had purchased a lot of craft supplies from an online store that went out of business, and started there.
My 1st sale occurred the day I started my shop and has grown every day.
Working with so many craft supplies, I found that I have a knack for making vintage era craft items. I began a line focused on that. They are my most successful items.
My shop keeps me extremely busy, but I still create and make all my items myself by hand. I am the heart and soul of this shop and do all the creating, making, customer service, shop content, social media and order fulfillment myself.
What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?
I sell a variety of crafting and scrapbook supplies, but my handmade vintage craft items are close to my heart. They are some of my best sellers and I have multiple repeat buyers.
Getting sales on Etsy
How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?
I started my Etsy shop at midnight at the end of December 2016, right before Christmas. I got my first sale the next day. By the end of month, I knew the shop was going to do well. It has been my full time job ever since.
I do social media - Facebook, Pintrest and Instagram. I am currently adding Twitter and working on producing a blog related to my shop.
Since Covid-19 came about, I have been running frequent sales, as we are all still getting back on our feet, and a little discount never hurts.
How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?
I am the sole employee of my shop. I handle all creating, customer service, shop management, order fulfillment, social media, etc. it is a full time job that is more demanding than any other outside job I’ve ever had.
