How NathalieOuederni got started

Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?

I began selling on Etsy almost a decade ago, and I had no idea how it worked! My very first product was a calendar that I decided to upload after I created a series of patterns with watercolor. At first, I created this calendar as a gift for my dad, and I thought, Why not try to upload it on Etsy? As I got my first orders from people I didn’t know, I got excited to add more products to my shop.

Favorite items

What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?

Definitely my yearly calendar! I have a lot of fun every year deciding on which theme will be for next year, creating the illustrations, designing the calendar, preparing it for print, receiving it, and taking the pictures for my online shop! They do pretty well every year, and I have many repeat customers who get my calendar every year. I also transform my yearly calendars into perpetual calendars that you can use for birthdays, events, and dates that come back every year.

Getting sales on Etsy

How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?

I don’t really remember; it was such a long time ago! Maybe a couple weeks to a month. I mostly post on social media to direct people to my shop.

Managing NathalieOuederni

How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?

Yes, I do everything myself for now. I did have some help for a few months when I couldn’t keep up with the orders by myself. For shipping, I am mostly using National Post, where I have a contract with lower prices for the number of parcels that I send every year, and for busy periods, I work with UPS and DHL, as they can also collect the packages from my home studio.

The future of NathalieOuederni

What goals do you have for your shop in the future?

I am in the process of opening my own online shop independently on Etsy. Also, I would love to delegate a part of the shop management so that I can focus more on creating.
