How MYulyArtApothecary got started

Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?

Hi, I’m Megan, the owner of Megan Yuly Art & Apothecary. For over two years, I’ve been creating soft pastel paintings and making handmade soaps. These hobbies brought me so much joy that I decided to open an Etsy shop to share them with others. All of my products are handcrafted by me, except for my art prints, which are produced using a print-on-demand service.

Favorite items

What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?

While I truly love everything in my shop, my favorite pieces are my framed original soft pastel paintings with pressed flowers. The way the flowers enhance the artwork gives them a beautiful, three-dimensional quality—almost like peering through a window into a dreamy, miniature world. These have been popular, and I think it’s because they’re so unique and visually striking. Here’s a link to one of them:

Getting sales on Etsy

How long did it take for you to earn your first sale, and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?

I made my very first sale on launch day! Leading up to the launch, I spent about a month building my social media presence and creating a weekly newsletter to grow my email list. That early effort built excitement and anticipation around my shop, and it paid off when I officially opened.

Managing MYulyArtApothecary

How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo, or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop, and how do you handle fulfillment?

Since my shop is still new, it’s currently a one-woman operation—I do everything myself! One tool I’ve found especially helpful is Alura, which has made learning SEO and optimizing my listings much easier. I was pleasantly surprised to receive personalized suggestions on how to improve my shop further—it’s been a really useful resource so far.

The future of MYulyArtApothecary

What goals do you have for your shop in the future?

I’m excited to continue expanding my shop’s offerings. I’m currently developing new soap scents, body products, and original artwork. My goal is to keep creating, growing, and connecting with more customers who love handmade, heartfelt products.

Advice for new sellers

What’s your advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop?

If you’re an artist with a passion for your craft, don’t let perfectionism or fear hold you back. Start with what you have—put your work out there and see where it takes you. And don’t be afraid to show up on social media and share your process. The world needs your creativity and beauty!
