How MONOGRAMSVGFONT got started

Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?

As a professional graphic designer by trade, I’ve always loved creating elegant, personalized monograms. I started by designing for friends and family, and when I realized how many people were searching for beautiful, ready-to-use digital monograms, I opened my Etsy shop to share my designs with a wider audience.

When I first launched, I knew design—but Etsy SEO was a whole different world. That’s where Alura made all the difference.

Alura helped me understand exactly what customers were searching for. From optimizing my titles and tags to analyzing trends and spotting high-potential keywords, the app gave me the insight I needed to actually get found. Its product research tool helped me decide which monogram styles were in demand, and the listing helper made sure every product was SEO-friendly before going live.

Thanks to Alura, I’ve been able to focus more on the creative side of things, knowing that the marketing and visibility side is backed by solid data. I truly believe Alura has helped my shop grow faster—and smarter—than it would have on its own.

For anyone starting out or wanting to level up their Etsy game, I can't recommend Alura enough. It’s like having an Etsy expert on your team.

Favorite items

What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?

Honestly, I love all the items in my shop—because for me, it's the creation process that I’m truly addicted to. As a graphic designer, there's something so satisfying about turning a simple concept into a clean, elegant monogram that someone else can use to bring their own project to life. Each design is a little piece of that creative spark.

Monograms

That said, I do have a soft spot for my empty or hollow monogram frames. They’re some of my favorites because they have so much creative potential. Customers can drop in their initials, use them in logos, wedding signage, invitations, or even as part of a branding package. They’re versatile and timeless, and that open space invites people to make the design their own—which I love.

These particular styles have been selling well, and I think it’s because they’re both stylish and flexible. People love the idea of customization, and these frames give them the perfect starting point. I’m always adding new designs, but those frames are definitely close to my heart.

Getting sales on Etsy

How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?

The first few months on Etsy were definitely tough. Like many new sellers, I put so much time and love into my designs, but it felt like shouting into the void. I knew my monograms had potential, but I didn’t really understand how to get seen—and without visibility, sales just don’t happen.

Then I discovered Alura, and everything changed.

Using Alura’s keyword research, listing optimization tools, and product performance insights, I was finally able to understand how Etsy’s search algorithm works. I revamped my listings with better titles, tags, and descriptions based on actual data—and within a short time, I got my first sale. That was such a rewarding moment!

Since then, I’ve continued using Alura to fine-tune my shop, and I honestly credit Alura not just for my first sale, but for many of the ones that followed. It helped me get strategic about what to sell, how to position it, and how to stand out in a competitive market.

Now, most of my traffic comes through Etsy search, which means the SEO work I’ve done—powered by Alura—is doing its job.

For any Etsy seller trying to grow, I can’t recommend it enough. It turns guesswork into smart, actionable decisions.

Managing MONOGRAMSVGFONT

How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?

It’s just me running the shop—designer, marketer, customer service, and everything in between! I love the hands-on nature of managing every part of the process because it lets me stay closely connected to both my work and my customers.

Since I sell digital downloads, there’s no shipping or physical fulfillment to manage. As soon as someone makes a purchase, they can download their monogram instantly, which keeps things smooth and efficient for both sides.

To keep my shop running smoothly, I rely on a few key tools:

Alura – This has been a game-changer for me. I use it for SEO, listing optimization, and product research. It takes the guesswork out of Etsy strategy and helps me stay visible in search.

Canva – This is where I create all of my monogram designs. It’s intuitive and powerful, and it lets me bring my creative ideas to life quickly.

Pinterest – I use Pinterest to share my creations and drive traffic to my shop. It’s a great way to showcase the versatility of my monograms and inspire potential customers with how they can be used.

Even though it's a solo operation, these tools help me stay organized, creative, and focused on what I love—designing beautiful monograms and connecting with people who appreciate them.

The future of MONOGRAMSVGFONT

What goals do you have for your shop in the future?

Looking ahead, I have two main goals for my Etsy shop: expand my repertoire and reach higher sales.

I’m always creating, and one of my biggest ambitions is to grow my collection beyond monograms—exploring new styles, design themes, and possibly even custom options or coordinated design kits. I want to offer a wider range of digital products that still reflect my clean, elegant aesthetic but give customers even more ways to personalize and elevate their projects.

At the same time, I’m focused on continuing to grow my visibility and sales. With the help of tools like Alura, I’ve seen how much strategic optimization can impact performance. My goal is to keep building on that momentum—reaching new audiences, improving my listings, and turning more of my creative energy into a sustainable, growing business.

Ultimately, I just want to keep doing what I love—designing beautiful, useful things—and share that passion with as many people as possible.

Advice for new sellers

What’s your advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop?

My biggest advice for new Etsy sellers? Get the right tools—and be patient.

Start by using apps like Alura to help with SEO, product research, and listing optimization. Tools like these take the guesswork out of setting up your shop and give you a much better shot at being found in Etsy search.

But even with the perfect SEO and beautifully designed products, you have to understand that Etsy takes time to recognize your shop’s legitimacy. The algorithm doesn’t always reward new shops right away. It takes consistency, a little experimentation, and a lot of patience.

Don’t get discouraged if sales don’t roll in immediately. Keep refining your listings, keep creating, and keep learning. If you stick with it and stay passionate about your work, you’ll start to see results—and when that first sale comes in, it’s absolutely worth the wait.
