How LoveLeeSoaps got started
Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?
My name is Leeana O’Cain and I live in Daytona Beach, Florida. When I was 18 years old I started making soaps from a standard soap making kit given to me by my mother as a surprise gift. Shortly after, I began my Etsy shop LoveLeeSoaps selling my colorful and fun handmade soaps and bath products.
What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?
My favorite items that are listed in my Etsy shop are my food and dessert shaped soap designs. They are super fun to make and look so realistic. They are also my top selling products year round. I feel like they are popular because people love buying them to use as a gift. They are also great for weddings and baby showers.
Getting sales on Etsy
How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?
I was super lucky and my Etsy shop took off pretty quickly in the beginning. I was doing everything I could to get the word out about my business but at the same time having fun and learning and asking for advice from others. When it comes to attracting customers I feel like consistency is always key.
How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?
I am the only one that manages my shop aside from having help when things get super busy. I have learned so much managing LoveLeeSoaps over the past 15 years. Over time you find things that work better than others and it especially helps with time management. Some days and seasons are busier than others but you just have to push through and get things done. You must stay focused, be dedicated, and willing to sacrifice.
The future of LoveLeeSoaps
What goals do you have for your shop in the future?
I am always looking to build and grow my business. I most definitely plan on adding new and exciting products to grow my line even further.
Advice for new sellers
What’s your advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop?
Stay motivated. Live and breathe whatever your passion is. If you enjoy what you are doing, the rest will come with time. Never give up! All things are possible. It is true that when one door closes another one opens but only if you think positive and make it happen.
