Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?

Before I started selling on Etsy, I began making crafts as a hobby. My love for decorating led me to create seasonal home decor for myself and close family, and with time, friends started asking for custom orders. This demand prompted me to explore selling platforms, and that's when I discovered Etsy. Over time, I became more comfortable with selling. In addition to working on my photography skills and understanding SEO and key words, I expanded my product offerings to include items like wall signs, Christmas ornaments, and candles.

What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?

My favourite listings are the wax melts I offer. These wax melts are available in a wide range of delightful scents, and I take care to ensure they come in a variety of colours and shapes to match different occasions or seasons. Not only do they have a pleasant aroma, but they are also pleasing to the eye. The primary reason these wax melts sell so well is because I consistently introduce new, fun shapes, incorporate the best colour combinations, and ensure they match various occasions or seasons. I also pay great attention to their eye-catching packaging and maintain an affordable price point, which sets them apart in the market.

How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?

I got my first sale within the first week.

To attract customers, I mostly add new products and change titles according to the season. I also pin all my listings on Etsy.

How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?

I run my shop myself, and occasionally I hire seasonal help.

I ship all via Etsy; sometimes I use the Pireship app, where I can purchase discounted shipping labels for USPS and USPS.

The future of JarfulHouse

What goals do you have for your shop in the future?

I would like to offer a larger variety of custom candles, especially dessert candles. In addition, I would like to increase my wholesale offer.

What’s your advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop?

Make sure you work on the photos, because good photography is 50% success.
