How FeloCreationsDE got started

Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?

My Etsy shop Felo Creations was born out of a deeply personal and painful experience. In March 2024, I became pregnant with our third child. From early on, I had a feeling that something wasn’t right. Sadly, in May, my fears were confirmed, and in June, we had to deliver our baby in silence. 

During this heartbreaking time, I looked for ways to prepare for the funeral. I wanted to create something worthy of my child — a loving keepsake, a memorial candle that could reflect the depth of my grief. But nothing I found felt right or meaningful enough. 

So I began to create something myself. I researched, tested materials, and developed a design that met my own standards. When I shared our story on social media, I received an overwhelming amount of support and found comfort in connecting with others who had experienced similar loss. That’s when the idea was born: I wanted to use my experience to give something back to other grieving parents. 

Felo Creations, named after my son Felix-Loki, was founded with this mission in mind. Today, I design heartfelt remembrance candles for Sternenkinder — stillborn and deeply missed babies — especially for emotional occasions like birthdays or memorial days. I work with carefully selected materials and focus on thoughtful, minimalist designs that offer comfort and provide a dignified way to remember and honor these little souls. 

Favorite items

What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?

I truly love every single item in my shop, as each design is created with a lot of heart, personal reflection, and empathy. However, these two candles are especially close to my heart:

Both are timeless, personal, and thoughtfully designed for this sensitive occasion — child-appropriate, yet still elegant and subtle. That’s exactly what makes them so special to many grieving families. 

They are among the most popular items in my shop, and I believe that’s because they express what many parents feel but often struggle to put into words. The combination of simple aesthetics, heartfelt symbolism, and individual personalization truly speaks to the soul. 

Getting sales on Etsy

How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?

I officially opened my Etsy shop Felo Creations on August 13, 2024 – and just two days later, on August 15, I made my very first sale. Honestly, I was surprised it happened so quickly, but I was overjoyed! It showed me that there is a real need for lovingly designed memorial items for Sternenkinder (stillborn and deeply missed babies). 

Right now, I’m focusing entirely on search engine optimization (SEO) to attract customers to my shop organically. I work with carefully researched keywords, optimize my product descriptions, and pay close attention to high-quality visuals — not only to be visible, but to truly connect on an emotional level. I’ve also started building a presence on Pinterest to gradually expand my reach in the long term. 

Managing FeloCreationsDE

How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?

I currently run Felo Creations on my own – from designing the products and communicating with customers to packaging and shipping. It’s a lot of work, but I truly enjoy staying close to the product and having direct contact with my customers. 

To stay on top of things throughout the day, I use the Etsy app, which allows me to respond quickly to new orders or messages. However, one of the most valuable tools in my daily workflow is Alura, especially for SEO optimization. The clear recommendations and user-friendly interface help me analyze my listings, find the right keywords, and gradually improve my shop’s visibility. 

I handle shipping myself through a local parcel service. I purchase and print the shipping labels and carefully package each order with a lot of attention and love. Of course, there’s room to streamline the process in the future — but for now, this hands-on approach works very well for my small, personal shop. 

The future of FeloCreationsDE

What goals do you have for your shop in the future?

My next goal is to expand my product range beyond memorial grave candles. Many parents of Sternenkinder (stillborn babies) don’t have a grave to visit because they weren’t able to bury their child — yet the longing for a tangible keepsake remains. 

That’s why I want to start creating candles specifically for these families — heartfelt remembrance pieces that can have a dignified place at home and offer comfort in times of grief. Through this, I hope to give even more grieving parents a small light in their darkness. 

Advice for new sellers

What’s your advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop?

My biggest advice: Be patient and don’t give up. The beginning can be rough, and there will be moments when it feels like all your effort isn’t making a difference. But that’s completely normal. 

As long as your project is filled with heart, passion, and authenticity, your work will pay off — I truly believe that. Every small step moves you forward, even if the progress isn’t immediately visible.
