How DECOPOMPOMS got started
Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?
Hello, I’m Jurgita. I was born in Lithuania. moved to England in 2005. I started my shop when I had my kids. I have three wonderful boys. 11 years ago, I saw paper pompoms somewhere and wanted them for my kids' birthdays. I could only buy them in Australia or the US. There weren't any shops in the U.K. or Europe. I couldn't even find it in shops in the far east. I had planned to make them. They were so beautiful that I started making them for our parties, friends' parties, and friends of friends. I had to open a shop on Etsy. After a year, there were probably many shops selling pom-poms like ours. So we had to make them special—quality products made with love.
Favorite items
What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?
Dusty blush pom poms and honeycomb hearts are my favorites. It’s so universal, with beautiful pastel colors and different textures.It's been one of our best sellers for many years now. It can be used for many occasions, and after a party, it can be put in the living room or nursery.

Getting sales on Etsy
How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?
The first sales began very quickly, in 2011. We were getting more and more customers, as we were the first on Etsy in Europe. We now attract customers to our shop through social media and Etsy.
Managing DECOPOMPOMS
How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?
I have a great team that is helping me in a studio in the UK. Few girls are helping with productions; all items are fully hand-made and time-consuming to make, for example, honeycombs. I use erank or marmalade, but I really need to do more work in this area but am always too busy.

What goals do you have for your shop in the future?
I have many projects in my head. More products.
Advice for new sellers
What’s your advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop?
Beautiful photos and high-quality products make them so appealing that you would be in ninth heaven if you purchased one.
