How AhneJewelry got started

Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?

I’m Eni from AHNE Jewelry. I make minimal and meaningful everyday jewelry. I started making jewelry when my late grandmother fell very ill. I wanted to craft her a bracelet that featured gemstone beads to aid her healing. Lucky for me, my old workplace was situated minutes away from Hatton Garden (it’s THE place for all things jewelry in London). I spent every minute of my lunch breaks gathering materials and gemstones and learning different techniques. I soon started experimenting with rings, and once I had made the first prototypes I truly loved, I knew Etsy was the place for me. Having worked in SEO, I knew marketing my shop would take a while, so I was very keen to start out on a platform that already provided a large audience. I opened my shop, and two days later I heard the famous "Ching!"

Favorite items

What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?

That’s a tough question! Haha! It’s like asking a mother to choose a favorite child.

Every day, I wear a stack of my arc ring, open ring, and opal. It’s such a simple, delicate stack that always gets comments. The open ring is definitely one of my best sellers! I think it’s because it’s such an inconspicuous ring that adds sparkle to your finger and pairs quite effortlessly with any other ring. It’s also super light, which is something my customers seem to appreciate about all the rings I offer.  I also wear my moon and star studs every single day. I love how small they are and how they reflect the light. I have multiple piercings, so I love having them as an everyday staple.

Getting sales on Etsy

How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?

It took me two days to earn my first sale. I launched my shop in mid-November and got lucky to receive a lot of Christmas customers. Luckily now I get a lot of return customers and I try to keep up with Etsy SEO in order to attract new customers.

Managing AhneJewelry

How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?

I manage my shop by myself and have to occasionally ask for help during Christmas time. One of the apps I couldn’t live without is obviously the Etsy app, but I also use the Royal Mail click-and-drop platform. Without it, I couldn’t keep track of all the orders I get from different platforms.

The future of AhneJewelry 

What goals do you have for your shop in the future?

I am working on a new collection of talismans and amulets and can’t wait to launch it. At the moment, I’m also getting all my ducks in a row in order to start wholesaling, something I’ve been wanting to do more of for a very long time!

Advice for new sellers

What’s your advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop?

Read up on SEO! It’s such an important part of being a good seller. You could have the best product, but nobody will find it if you don’t do your SEO right. Photography is also very important. In a saturated marketplace like Etsy, good photography really makes a difference. My last piece of advice is to offer good customer service. I know it can be a struggle sometimes, but there’s nothing better than a happy customer who will recommend you to their friends and family because you went above and beyond for them.
