Strideza has made more than 17,000 sales of vinyl wall decals since opening on Etsy in 2013. Improving existing listings is part of its ongoing work on product visibility and the shopping experience. The shop uses Alura selectively: it reviews each listing's optimization score and runs Alura's AI optimizer on the ones that score low, not on the whole catalog.

A wall decal for nearly every room

Strideza cuts wall decals from removable matte vinyl, made to order. The catalog covers most rooms of a house. There are script baby names for over the crib, "Laundry" and "Pantry" door labels with a border frame, kitchen quotes, Bible verses, a nine-piece shark set for a kid who loves the ocean, and a basketball that stretches across a bedroom wall. Smaller pieces go on car mirrors and laptops, and there are window decals with opening hours for small businesses.

The shop has been on Etsy since 2013 and has more than 17,000 sales and 2,500 reviews averaging 4.88 stars. Over that time it has built up more than 500 active listings, and some of its designs have been in the shop for many years.

Finding the listings that need work

With more than 500 active listings, not every listing needs the same attention, and the work is in finding the ones that do. Some older titles followed one pattern: the design, a colon, then a phrase about the mood. "Shark Jaw Wall Decal: Black Vinyl Ocean Predator Art" says what the art is and what colour it comes in. It doesn't say the vinyl is matte, or that it comes off the wall later, and many older titles didn't name the detail a shopper sees first in the photo.

The descriptions followed the same pattern at greater length. Many opened with a scene-setting line like "Create an underwater focal point in your space" before getting to what's actually on the sheet. The question is which of them are actually holding a listing back.

“We use Alura to evaluate existing listings and identify areas for improvement. When a listing receives a low optimization score, we may use Alura's AI tools to refine its title, description, and tags. We review these suggestions before publishing changes to ensure they accurately represent our products.”

The score picks the listing, the team reviews the draft

Strideza works in Alura's listing editor. Each listing gets a score out of 100, with grades for photos, video, title, description and tags, which shows quickly where a listing is weakest. Only listings that score low go to the AI optimizer. Under Optimization settings the shop picks what the AI should work on, from titles, descriptions and tags to image alt text and image improvements, and clicks Start optimization.

The drafts stay in the editor. View changes shows old and new side by side, and nothing reaches Etsy until someone clicks Publish changes. If a draft goes wrong, Revert all puts the listing back, and Listing history can restore an earlier version later. The team reviews every suggestion before publishing, to make sure it accurately represents the product.

It's one listing at a time, since the editor doesn't do bulk changes, and the shop starts with the listings that score lowest. The side-by-side view is also the place to catch what AI gets wrong. On a quote decal that's usually the quote itself: a title can keep every useful word and still split the phrase in an odd place.

The research side happens on Etsy. With Alura's Chrome extension, a search for something like "name wall decal" turns into a table of the listings on that page, each of which opens a listing report. Shop pages get a shop report. When the shop spots a listing worth studying, it saves it to Alura, so there's a running collection of how other decal shops photograph, title and price similar designs.

“Alura helps simplify the process of reviewing and optimizing existing listings. We use its tools to explore keyword opportunities and improve product information, while carefully reviewing changes to ensure they accurately represent our designs and appeal to the customers we're trying to reach.”

The product, the vinyl and the detail you can see

On the refreshed listings, titles now lead with what the decal is, say what it's made of and name the detail in the photo, like the pink shoes or the turquoise deer. Several now say "removable" outright, as the guest room quote does. Tags got more specific too: a whale name decal swapped the general "vinyl wall decal" and "wall sticker" for "ocean nursery decor", "coastal nursery" and "removable wall decal". Descriptions now open with the contents: "Sea life decal featuring sharks, fish, jellyfish, coral, and an octopus creates an underwater wall scene." The ballet name decal shows the change best. The old title said who the decal was for. The new one names the pink shoes in the photo and says the vinyl comes off.

Alt text, the short description of each photo that screen readers read aloud, came along in the same pass. Writing it by hand for every photo of every decal is the kind of task that never makes it onto the list. The shop is still evaluating what the changes do for sales.

Tell people it comes off the wall

Strideza's advice for other decal sellers is to answer the worry before the question. For wall decals that worry is usually the wall itself, especially for renters and parents decorating a nursery that will change in a few years. Put "removable" and the finish in the title and the first lines of the description, then show the decal on a real wall.

“When shopping for wall decals, customers want to understand what they're purchasing. We focus on providing clear descriptions of the design, material, finish, and available customization options so customers can confidently choose the right decal for their space.”
