EmmaAlyseDesigns has made nearly 30,000 sales of embroidered kids' clothes on Etsy since 2014, with a 4.99 rating from more than 6,400 reviews. Its seasonal designs have a short window, so the shop lets Alura pin its listings to Pinterest boards for each occasion and updates titles with Alura's listing editor.

A big number, a name, and a tractor

EmmaAlyseDesigns makes embroidered clothes for kids, and most of them are birthday shirts. A big appliqué number in gingham or checkerboard, a theme stitched beside it, and the child's name underneath. The themes run from tractors, trains and monster trucks to ladybugs, pancakes and a fishing shirt that reads "Ofishally 5". There are baby footies with a monogram, back-to-school polos and Halloween shirts too.

Each piece is made to order. Parents choose colors and type the name in the personalization box, and there's a detail many would miss: most birthday designs can be made without an age or a name, so the same shirt works for a sibling or for everyday wear. There's a rush option for parents who remember the party late.

Seasonal shirts have a short window

A birthday shirt sells all year. A Halloween shirt, a pumpkin patch tee or a first-day-of-school polo has a few weeks. Each of those seasonal designs has to be found by parents before the season is over, not after.

Two jobs came with that. Every new design needed to show up on Pinterest, where parents collect party and holiday ideas, and doing that by hand for a catalog of more than 200 listings never ends. And some titles listed the designs in a row, so the choices a parent actually had to make, like sleeve length or thread color, were easy to miss.

“A Halloween shirt has a few weeks to sell. If parents don't see it until the end of October, it might as well not exist.”

Pins sorted by occasion

The shop connected Pinterest to Alura and turned on Smart Pins and Pin New Listings. Once a day, Smart Pins fills a queue about ten days ahead with pins made from active listings, chosen mostly by how many Etsy views each listing gets. Pin New Listings runs daily as well and picks up anything that went live the day before, which matters most here: a new jack-o'-lantern tee gets its pin without anyone setting it up. Images are cropped to Pinterest's tall 2:3 shape, and the pin text is written by AI from the listing.

The pins land on boards that follow the shop's calendar rather than its product types: Birthday Shirts, Kids Embroidered Fall Shirts, Halloween Trick or Treat Shirts, Christmas Shirts, School Shirt/Sets and Baby Gown. A parent planning a farm party finds a board full of birthday shirts, and a parent thinking about trick-or-treat finds the Halloween ones.

There's no approval step. The queue can be opened at any time to reorder, edit or delete a pin, and everything left alone posts on the days and times the shop set.

Titles that say what's stitched on the shirt

Titles get worked on in Alura's listing editor. The shop runs the AI optimization on a listing, reads the title that comes back, and publishes it with Publish changes. Nothing reaches Etsy until that click. Tags, descriptions and photos get edited in the same place. Most of that work has gone to the Halloween shirts and the name sweatshirts and hoodies.

The new titles follow a pattern. Each one opens with what a parent searches for, like "Halloween shirt" or "kids name sweatshirt". Then it says what's embroidered, and it ends with the choice a parent has to make: short or long sleeve, rainbow or solid thread, the fabric blend.

“I read every AI title like a parent scrolling on their phone. If it says what's stitched on the shirt and which options to pick, it goes live.”

Clearer titles, pins that read like a description

The Halloween shirt that used to run its four designs together as "Ghost Pumpkin Witch Hat Candy Corn" now opens with "Halloween shirt", says the name is embroidered, and offers the designs as a choice. The toddler crewneck that was a "School Sweater" now says what it's made of.

The pins read the same way. A new farm birthday shirt, the three-i-e-i-o design, went to Pinterest as "Farm Birthday Shirt for Kids with Personalized Name & Age", and its description lists "a cow-print number, bright red barn, and green tractor", which is exactly what's stitched on the shirt. It says the shirt is made to order and that it suits an animal-themed party.

Both changes put the same facts in front of a parent, whether they arrive from Etsy search or a Pinterest board: what's on the shirt, where the name goes, and which options to pick.

Advice for other sellers

Tell buyers what else a product can be. EmmaAlyseDesigns says in plain words that a birthday design can be stitched without the age, which turns a one-day shirt into one a child wears all year.

And plan for the season before the season. A holiday design that goes up early has time to be pinned, found and saved before parents start shopping in earnest.

“Lots of parents don't realize a birthday shirt can skip the age. Say it plainly, because the photo won't tell them.”
