DTFdesignsHub has made more than 14,000 sales on Etsy since 2024, with over 2,600 ready-to-press transfer designs in the shop. With a catalog that turns over with every holiday and game-day season, the shop lets Alura's Pinterest automations turn new and older listings into pins.

Transfers for people who make shirts

DTFdesignsHub sells DTF transfers: full-color designs printed on film, ready to press onto a shirt, hoodie or tote with a heat press. Many of the buyers are makers themselves. Crafters, boutiques, print shops and Etsy sellers order a design, press it onto their own blanks and sell or gift the finished piece. The transfers work on cotton, polyester and blends, and bigger orders get bigger discounts. If an order hasn't arrived within 14 business days, the shop sends a replacement or a full refund.

The catalog reads like a year of reasons to wear a shirt. Leopard Christmas trees and a highland cow in a holiday sweater. Pink mahjong tiles for girls' night. Cruise designs for family trips, Gigi designs for grandmothers, pink-out designs for October game days and ghosts for Halloween.

Thousands of designs, each with a season

With more than 2,600 listings live, the catalog is far bigger than anyone could pin by hand. And most designs have a window. A Christmas cruise transfer matters for a few months a year. A school mascot design matters when the season starts. The buyers who turn these into shirts are shopping ahead of that window, not inside it.

Pinterest is one of the places crafters collect ideas for what to make next. But pinning by hand means picking a few designs, writing a title and description for each, and coming back to do it again. A catalog this size, with new designs going up through the year, doesn't fit that routine.

“There are more designs in this shop than I could ever pin by hand. If Pinterest depended on me remembering, it would only ever see the newest few.”

One automation for new designs, one for the rest

DTFdesignsHub connected its Pinterest account to Alura and switched on both automations. Pin New Listings handles fresh designs. A daily job picks up listings that went live in the past day and adds them to the pin queue, so a new Christmas design gets its own pin without anyone having to remember to make one.

Smart Pins covers the rest of the catalog. Once a day, Alura fills a queue of pins about ten days ahead, drawn from the shop's active listings and ranked mostly by Etsy listing views. Nobody has to pick which designs go in; the ranking does that. A photo that was pinned in the last seven days isn't used again, so the same picture doesn't keep coming back week after week.

For pin text, the shop uses the "Optimized for Pinterest with AI" setting rather than its Etsy text as written. Alura writes a pin title, description and alt text from each listing, in the listing's language. Each pin links back to its Etsy listing, so a crafter who saves the highland cow in early autumn can find the transfer again when it's time to order.

The queue stays editable. A pin can be reworded, moved up the list, or published right away, and the shop has also pinned some designs by hand alongside the automated ones. Nothing needs approving, though: automated pins post on schedule unless someone edits or deletes them.

“A Pinterest title doesn't need every keyword my Etsy title has. It needs to tell a crafter what the design is and what they'd put it on.”

Etsy titles, rewritten for Pinterest

The clearest change is in the pins themselves. On Etsy, a DTFdesignsHub title lists the ways a shopper might search for a design: DTF transfer, ready to press, DTF print, iron on transfer. That's written for Etsy search. On Pinterest, the same design gets one short line that says what it is and what it's for, and the photo does the rest.

The descriptions follow suit. The highland cow pin reads: "Add rustic charm to your holiday projects with this highland cow DTF transfer. Perfect for DIY apparel and decor, it's easy to use and long-lasting." New designs like the snowy dachshund and the Christmas cruise ship went out as pins this way, alongside older designs the Smart Pins queue brought back around. Most of them close with the same short line, "See details on Etsy", and the pin links to the listing.

List a season ahead of the date

For other sellers of seasonal designs, the first tip is about timing. When your buyer is making something to sell, they need your design before their own customers start shopping, so your calendar runs a season ahead of the date on the design.

The second tip is to give buyers a way in when their idea isn't in the catalog. DTFdesignsHub keeps a custom listing where a buyer uploads their own design, text or photo, checks a digital proof, and gets it back as a ready-to-press transfer.

“My buyers are shopping for Christmas while it's still warm out. They need time to press, photograph and list before their own customers start looking.”
