How PrettyPinkPlanners got started

Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?

I’m Nichole, owner of Pretty Pink Planners!  I began selling on Etsy back in 2015 and I actually started with physical items.  I had a lot of success with that, but I fell pregnant with my now 2-year-old daughter back in 2017 and it just became too much.  When she was born in 2018 I decided to try to go the digital route based off of my love and obsession for planners.  I create every single design myself from my home computer.

Favorite items

What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?

My favorite items listed in my shop are for sure my Etsy Seller Success Program and my  home maintenance related planners.  My Etsy Seller Program is so great because it removes all of “fluff” from other programs out there.  It’s straight to the point with actionable steps from each chapter to really reap all of the benefits as an Etsy seller and to really start seeing those sales come in on a full-time type of income basis.  I think this is such a hit for my customers because it’s such an informative program for a steal compared to the $100-$500 programs other sellers are pricing their programs at and if you put the work in and really implement the steps I have outlined you WILL see results.

My Ultimate Home Maintenance Planner has EVERYTHING you could need to get all aspects of your life in order.  Being a work-from-home mom has been so much easier knowing that I have everything from cleaning routines to meal planning to budgeting and everything in between all in one place.  This item is one of my top 2 best sellers, and it absolutely has to do with the fact that it’s such an extensive planner (97 pages worth) for such a reasonable price (less than $6.00).

Getting sales on Etsy

How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?

I started making sales within a few days on Etsy.  If you set up (or revamp) your shop for optimal success it really does not take much time to start bringing in buyers.  Etsy brings in a lot of traffic for me now without having to do much because they’ve seen that I make them a lot of money.  Because of this they put me at the top of search results on top of my seasoned SEO tactics that I’ve learned.  I also bring in a lot of buyers from Pinterest.  Believe it or not customers are most ready to buy if they’re searching Pinterest!

Managing PrettyPinkPlanners

How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?

I manage my shop completely alone.  I actually have 2 additional shops that I manage too!  It can be challenging, but the great thing about selling a digital item is that it can be as involved or as passive as you want.  I could probably simply answer e-mails and do some light marketing at this point and still make a full-time income.  I choose to continue to grow my business and market hard to ensure that it stays at the top.  I use apps like Canva, Tailwind, and the Etsy Seller app to manage my store.  Thankfully, since I made the switch to digital products I don’t have any shipping or fulfilling to do on orders!  This really is a game changer for me.

The future of PrettyPinkPlanners

What goals do you have for your shop in the future?

In the future, I’d like to jump into the top 5 of all Etsy creators.  I’m not there yet, but I’m slowly working towards it!

Advice for new sellers

What’s your advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop?

My advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop would be to optimize your shop from the beginning, have killer SEO, and simply be willing to put the work in.  Etsy can be as profitable as you want as long as you’re willing to work at it.
