How BohoBowAccessories got started

Introduce your Etsy shop and tell us your story. How did you begin and decide on what to sell on Etsy, and how do you create your products?

I started BOHOBOW to make beautiful items for my baby daughter, and with a lot of love and positive feedback from everyone around us, I came up with the idea of BOHOBOW as a space to share beauty and cuteness with other girls and moms around the world! Every item is tested on my very eager and willing daughter, Elz. She was my first client and is still my best reliever. This girl does know what she likes, and she is not afraid to tell me what is comfortable and attractive to her! When I started my collection, I wanted to be of use to as many customers as possible. After I found out what Etsy was, I just had to be on it! With this kind assistance from the Etsy platform, my buyers may come from all around the world, and I couldn‘t be happier to sell my products to a much wider audience than our humble home market could have offered!

Favorite items

What are your favorite items? What makes these so special? Why do you think these items might be selling well?

Each and every item I make is very dear to my heart. Yet I must say that headbands and hair accessories have a special place in my heart as these are the items that were the first ones in my collection. My favorites are the natural-colored cotton clips, which were the first clips in my business. By creating them for my daughter, Bohobow was born. These are colors that are very easy to combine; they do not overshadow the naturalness, charm, and beauty of girls.

However, specially created holiday collections are also dear to my heart. For example, velvet pins are designed for special occasions. gives festivity and luxury. I happily wear them myself and recommend them to other mothers.

Being so practical, I am very keen on helping my clients by providing them with some knowledge I accumulated while being a mom to one amazing girl. During this time, I found out how useful it is to have a dedicated and beautiful place to store all your kids' accessories. I do believe that my clients feel the same when buying my newly created accessory boxes!

Getting sales on Etsy

How long did it take for you to earn your first sale and how do you currently attract customers to your Etsy shop?

I have been on Etsy since 2017. However, the first year was really educational; that is, it was necessary to understand a lot about trading on such a platform. The first year was really experimental. But I believed very much, I didn't give up, and I worked hard. That is, I paid a lot of attention to descriptions, photos, and keywords. It is not done quickly, but when you know what you are doing and for whom, it is, of course, easier. I knew my client, his needs, who he is, how he lives, and what he likes. In 2017-2018, there were not many sales, and already in 2019, sales jumped 4.5 times and have only increased every year. After all, it was social media - Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest - that influenced it. I paid a lot of attention to this, and a lot of work was done to bring the customer to my store. It really helped a lot and still does. It is a really important and powerful tool to help sales.

Managing BohoBowAccessories

How do you manage your shop? Are you running solo or do you have any team members? What tools or services do you use to run your shop and how do you handle fulfillment?

I am a creator, manager, time planner, photographer, and supply manager at the same time, with all these tasks on my hands. Working alone allows me to immerse myself in the flow of my business process, and I don‘t even need any music to keep me company! There is something wonderful about this meditation-like state submerged in silence. I am very active; I participate in various forums and groups and actively communicate there. That really helps. I am a member of Etsy Lithuania, and I am extremely happy to be there. because we really get a lot of information and advice. I also, of course, use various support sites: Etsy, Marmalead. In terms of shipping, I typically use our local Lithuanian post office, and if I require express shipping, I use shipping agents or international companies. So far, it's going well, and I don't have any major disappointments. and my clients are also satisfied. I sent to 27 countries around the world last year (2022). 

The future of BohoBowAccessories 

What goals do you have for your shop in the future?

Of course, I hope there will be even more sales. However, as the year has shown, with various world events, I am glad that sales did not drop drastically but only increased. I hope that sales will increase in 2023 as well, because I will pay a lot of attention to the creation of new collections and new products.

Advice for new sellers

What’s your advice for a new seller starting an Etsy shop?

The main thing is to believe, to believe in what you are creating, and not to give up if at first there are no big sales. It takes time, but don't lose hope. Follow innovations, propose new products, and try to believe in your product. Understanding your customers, understanding what they buy, what they expect to come organically, and most importantly, communicating and being honest with them.
