- **Edits go live on Etsy**: Alura scores each listing, rewrites the title, tags and description with AI, and publishes the result to your shop. ProfitTree's assistant drafts a title, tags and price for you to paste in. AI features in both tools use credits. [1]
- **Sales history on the Growth plan**: Growth searches more than 100 million Etsy listings and 2.5 million shops, with sales and revenue history for any of them, and adds Google search volume to every keyword. ProfitTree shows all-time listing and shop totals on Pro only. [2]
- **Selling tools after the research**: Basic sends buyer follow-ups when an order is placed and when it arrives. Growth adds up to 4 A/B tests, 15 Pinterest pins a day and an Etsy Ads optimizer that switches off ads losing money. Email marketing is an add-on.

## How deep does one keyword search go in each?

On one keyword the two are close. ProfitTree adds clicks and a breakdown of the first page; Alura adds Google search volume. In Alura, wedding guest book shows about 338,000 searches a month, moderate competition, a score of 78 and 95 sales per listing on average. Every figure in both tools is an estimate.

## Is ProfitTree cheaper than Alura?

ProfitTree costs less to start: Starter is $9.99 a month against Alura Basic at $11.99, and several shops cost $49.99 a month against $69.99. Billed yearly the gap closes. Alura Growth ($14.99) is cheaper than ProfitTree Growth ($17.99), and both top plans cost $29.99 a month.

### Is ProfitTree free?

Yes. ProfitTree's Free plan has no time limit and includes its AI assistant with 200 credits a week, the MCP for Claude and ChatGPT, basic product and shop research, and profit tracking with 7 days of history for one shop. Paid plans start at $9.99 a month, or $5.99 billed yearly. Alura Free also never expires and adds 10 listings to optimize. [2, 12]

### Is ProfitTree worth it?

It is if you want to know your real profit per order and per product, especially with Printify or Printful costs, since that starts on the free plan. It fits less well if you want a tool that changes your listings on Etsy or markets your shop, because its AI drafts copy for you to paste and it lists no follow-ups, Pinterest or A/B tests. [1, 2]

### Is ProfitTree legit and safe to connect to Etsy?

ProfitTree is run by ProfitTree Ltd, registered in Cyprus, and connects each shop through Etsy's official API. It says your data is never sold or shared, and its extension notes it uses Etsy's API without Etsy's endorsement. Paid plans are billed through Paddle, which is also where you cancel. Alura connects the same way and asks for edit access, because it publishes changes you approve. [1, 5, 12, 19]

### Is ProfitTree accurate?

Its profit numbers come from your own Etsy ledger, so orders, fees and ad charges are real, and it syncs about every 12 hours. Research numbers like monthly sales and searches are estimates, as they are in Alura. ProfitTree also notes limits: no VAT handling, and mixed currencies if your shop and bank currencies differ. ### Is ProfitTree only for Etsy?

Yes. ProfitTree researches and tracks Etsy shops only, and connects to Printify and Printful for product costs. Its Chrome extension, Etsy Radar, works on Etsy search and listing pages. Alura is built for Etsy too, and reaches beyond it with Pinterest pins, email marketing and Google search volume on each keyword. [1, 10]

### Does ProfitTree have a lifetime deal?

Not anymore. Its lifetime page now says the lifetime deal has ended and offers a first year of Pro for $300, renewing at $359.88 a year. A Trustpilot reviewer bought a $67 lifetime plan in April 2026. Its help center gives conflicting refund terms for lifetime purchases: one article allows 5 days, another calls them final.
