Product intern
Join as a pioneering Product Manager Intern, shaping the future of e-commerce with innovative digital products in a dynamic, global tech scale-up.
Introduction
Join us at Alura.io, a thriving Norwegian tech scale-up reshaping the world of e-commerce. Our journey began three years ago here at BI, where our two co-founders, still students then, laid the foundation for what is now a global platform supporting over 240,000 users and 80,000 unique Etsy stores. Today, our diverse team of 10 spans the globe, and we're inviting you to be the fourth member of our Oslo HQ team.
We're proud of our roots as a bootstrapped, profitable, and global company. Now, as we shift from startup to scale-up, it's the perfect time for you to come aboard. You'll be joining us at a dynamic moment – all the groundwork is laid, and we're gearing up for an exciting growth phase!
As an intern with us, you won't just be watching from the sidelines. You’ll dive head-first into real projects creating real value. We’re looking for an individual who can take on the role of our first Product Manager building and leading our product department after the internship.
Are you an eager, ambitious, and highly effective individual with a thirst for making a name of yourself? Do you want your ideas, hard work, and dedication to matter more than just your experience level? If you're nodding 'yes,' then read on, we're looking for you!
About the position
What exactly does a digital Product Manager(PM) do? Imagine being a "mini CEO" – that's a common description. As a PM, you're at the crossroads of business, design, technology, and marketing. In essence you’ll be leading the product creations of apps and websites. Your job is to decide what to build, when to build it, how it should be built, and the best way to introduce it to customers once it's ready. It's arguably one of the most varied and thrilling roles in a company! (NB, as a co-founder who loves building, I might just be a bit biased on this one!)
We have designed this PM internship specifically to find our new Product Manager and for those aspiring to become future product leaders. We promise an internship out of the ordinary.
What will you do?
During your internship, you'll dive directly into our current projects, working side-by-side with our two co-founders. You’ll have the unique opportunity to experience the full spectrum of digital product management firsthand. This means you'll be involved in everything from initial concept discussions to the final stages after a product launch.
In this internship, you'll get a taste of the exciting variety that comes with building digital products. Your tasks will be diverse and impactful:
- Conduct user testing and interviews, directly influencing our understanding of user needs.
- Get involved in scoping features, where your decisions help shape the final product.
- Join in on product design reviews, contributing your ideas to refine our solutions.
- Take part in product testing and quality assurance, ensuring our products meet high standards.
- Manage and collaborate with a team of developers as you bring new features to life.
- Dive into market and competitor research, giving us the edge we need to stand out.
- Document the product journey, capturing the details that matter.
- Present new features and products to the team, showcasing your work and its impact.
This isn't just any internship; it's a chance to have a real say in what our products look like and how they perform. You'll be making decisions that matter, in a role where every day brings something new and exciting. Are you ready to build and shape the future with us?
Please note that the dynamic nature of our rapidly evolving company means that the exact details of your internship are not fixed. This flexibility guarantees that your internship will be exciting and relevant.

- Be Part of a Global Success Story: Starting right here at BI, Alura.io has grown from a student-led initiative to a global platform supporting over 240,000 users. You'll be part of a journey that resonates with your own, as a student stepping into the professional world.
- Contribute to real-life projects: You will not be given mundane tasks or busy work. Instead, you will be an integral part of our team, working on projects that directly impact the growth and success of our company.
- A Culture of Real Impact: We value fresh ideas and bold thinking. Your work here matters, and your voice will be heard, regardless of experience level.
- Potential for full-time employment: Excel here, and you could be our next Product Manager, leading the charge in our product department.
- Enjoy amazing perks and benefits: You'll be treated to daily gourmet lunches crafted by a former Michelin-star chef, work on a brand-new Mac, maintain your wellness with optional weekly gym sessions and kick off your weekends with our weekly 'fridge open' events, where you can grab a refreshing beverage. Plus, enjoy unlimited coffee and tea, a variety of healthy office snacks, and many more exclusive benefits designed for your comfort and enjoyment.
Our goal is to help you grow and succeed, and we're confident that our internship program will prepare you for whatever the future may hold.
Qualifications
At Alura.io, we are on the lookout for passionate, driven individuals who are ready to embark on a transformative journey with us. Our ideal candidate possesses the following qualifications:
- Interest in Product Management: This role is ideal for ambitious and creative individuals, who may be new to the concept of digital product management, but feel a growing curiosity and excitement to the multifaceted world of product management. We seek an individual who is eager to take on significant responsibilities, excel across multiple areas of business, and juggle multiple complex projects simultaneously. In this position, you'll need to be an effective leader while being a good listener, have unwavering attention to detail, exceptional prioritization skills, and the capacity to thrive under pressure.
- Technical Know-How: While not a prerequisite, familiarity with SQL, basic programming (such as Python, R, JavaScript, etc.), and an understanding of internet fundamentals are highly advantageous. The two co-founders embarked on this journey after picking up the basics of Python and SQL during their Business Analytics master's here at BI. What's essential is your eagerness to learn and grasp technical skills and concepts. Your ability to quickly pick up and apply technical knowledge will be a key asset in this role.
- Proactive and Self-Driven: We appreciate candidates who take initiative, demonstrate a can-do attitude, and are self-motivated to learn and contribute effectively.
- Want to work in a Startup: We are in search of an individual who desires more than just an internship – someone ready for a career-defining role in an early-stage company. With us, you'll experience both freedom and responsibility. As part of our small, high-achieving team, you're expected to stand out, learn quickly, work autonomously, and lead in your area of expertise.
- Adaptability and Flexibility: In our fast-paced scale-up, the ability to adapt to changing situations and embrace new challenges is essential.
- Creative Problem-Solving Skills: You should be able to think outside the box, bring fresh ideas to the table, and tackle challenges with innovative solutions.
- Strong Communication Skills: Effective communication is key in our collaborative environment. You should be comfortable expressing your ideas and working in a team.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in English is required, as it's our primary language of communication.
If you see yourself fitting this profile and are excited about the prospect of joining a dynamic team that values innovation, growth, and real-world impact, we encourage you to apply. This is your chance to be part of a journey where your contribution goes beyond the ordinary and becomes part of a global success story.
